Happy Ponies gallops onto shelves

Happy Ponies, a new series of children’s books written by local author Gail Yardley launched this weekend (Saturday 13th June) at the ‘Made on the Isle of Wight’ book store on Bullen Road, Ryde.

Over 100 guests attended the launch event of the first book in series: ‘Sylvie and Friends’ and had a chance to meet author Gail and have a photograph with some of the Happy Ponies.

Happy Ponies is a series of 20 books inspired by ten real-life miniature Shetland ponies and one Dartmoor pony who live on the Isle of Wight. Aimed at 5-7 year olds, the book series aims to teach important morals such as friendship and honesty through the stories of the friendly (and sometimes mischievous!) ponies.

Guests had a chance to get a signed copy of ‘Sylvie and Friends’ from author and co-publisher Gail Yardley

Gail, author and co-publisher of the series, said: “The launch event was a huge success. It was brilliant to finally be able to reveal all our hard work. The children loved meeting the ponies and it was wonderful to hear so many positive comments about the book.”

Robin, owner of Made on the Isle of Wight, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the chance to host the first book launch of this fantastic series. We really value the importance of supporting local creatives on the Isle of Wight and this is such a wonderful story that we simply couldn’t resist!”

‘Sylvie and Friends’ is now available to purchase for just £6.99 from the Made on the Isle of Wight bookstore or through Amazon.
